NCL Biography:

[From Series Three The Neighbour and Other Stories]

The author of the critically acclaimed Farewell, Babylon and Paris Interlude, Naim Kattan has been publishing stories and essays since his student days in Iraq and continues to contribute to literary journals in Canada, France and Belgium.

Winner of the France-Canada Prize in 1971 for his autobiographical essay Reality and Theatre, the author has written for radio and television and has published numerous plays and short stories in France and Canada as well as collections of essays on English-Canadian literature.

In addition to his writing activities, Naim Kattan is Head of the Writing and Publications Section of the Canada Council.
