[From Series Three Sandbars]
Born in New Brunswick, Oonah McFee came to Ottawa with her family when she was still a child. Her knowledge of the Ottawa area is evident in Sandbars, a novel that won the Book in Canada First Novel Award in 1977. A sequel, Silent Eyes, is forthcoming – both books begin part of a planned quartet.
McFee’s work has been broadcast on the CBC and published in Chatelaine, Redbook, and The Texas Quarterly. She has conducted a number of writing workshops, and, in 1979, was writer-in-residence at Trent University.
