[From Series Three Selected Stories of John Metcalf]
John Metcalf was born in Carlisle, England, and came to Canada after graduating from the University of Bristol. He has worked as a teacher of English in Montreal, and has been writer-in-residence at the University of New Brunswick, the University of Ottawa, and Concordia University. In addition to editing more than fifteen literature anthologies, Metcalf has published his own novels and collections of short stories. Some of his well-known titles are Going Down Slow, General Ludd, The Teeth of My Father, and The Lady Who Sold Furniture.
